France: Qui sème le vent récolte la tempête

Autant l’affaire de la synagogue de la rue de la Roquette, le 13 juillet, était, toutes les vidéos en témoignent, une provocation montée de toutes pièces par la Ligue de défense juive (LDJ), autant les affrontements de Sarcelles, le 20, ne sauraient être réduits à ces agissements. Nous sommes certes loin des « pogroms » évoqués par Rober Cukierman, le président du Conseil représentatif des institutions juives de France (CRIF). Mais le jet de cocktails Molotov contre une synagogue et l’incendie d’un magasin tenu par un Juif n’en constituent pas moins des actes graves, surtout dans une ville caractérisée par la coexistence de populations juives et musulmanes massives.
Ces développements inquiètent donc à juste titre les deux communautés, mais aussi tous ceux qui ont à cœur le tissu démocratique de la société française et redoutent le poison que représente pour celle-ci l’actuel sursaut de racisme. Encore faut-il, afin de combattre ce dernier, établir clairement les responsabilités.
La plus lourde revient évidemment au gouvernement israélien. Le seul nombre des victimes — plus de trente-et-un Israéliens, presque tous soldats, et plus de six cent trente-neuf Palestiniens, en majorité civils — en dit long sur le cortège de crimes de guerre et contre l’humanité perpétrés par l’armée israélienne. Comment imaginer que la vision quotidienne de femmes et d’enfants tués ou blessés n’ait pas d’effet sur l’image que l’opinion publique se fait des Juifs ? Certes, il est absurde de confondre israélien et juif. Mais que fait Benyamin Netanyahou lorsqu’il répète qu’Israël est « l’Etat du peuple juif » et exige qu’il soit reconnu comme tel ?
Cet amalgame est, hélas, renforcé par l’attitude du CRIF. Comme lors de chaque guerre menée par Israël, les dirigeants communautaires n’ont pas seulement exprimé un soutien inconditionnel au premier ministre israélien : ils ont aussi exigé que la France en fasse autant. Et ils se sont livrés à leur habituel chantage, présentant comme antisémite quiconque s’oppose au massacre en cours et défend les droits humains comme politiques des Palestiniens de Gaza.
”Le président de la République et le Premier ministre ont, hélas, apporté leur pierre à la poussée antisémite, la vraie, qu’ils prétendent combattre [1]. Jamais en effet Paris n’avait collé aussi étroitement à Tel-Aviv. Il est vrai que François Hollande, lors de sa dernière rencontre avec Netanyahou, se déclarait « toujours » prêt à « trouver un chant d’amour pour Israël et pour ses dirigeants ». Non contents de défendre la légitimité de l’offensive israélienne, les deux têtes de l’exécutif ont interdit certaines manifestations de solidarité avec Gaza. Bref, ils ne s’y seraient pas pris autrement s’ils avaient voulu accréditer la thèse d’un « lobby juif » puissant au point d’infléchir la position de la France (lire, sur ce blog, « Hollande-Fabius, les errements de la diplomatie française »).
Il est temps que chacun prenne ses responsabilités. Que les responsables du mouvement de solidarité avec la Palestine renforcent leur vigilance à l’égard de toutes les formes de racisme et d’antisémitisme, qui méritent d’être combattues avec la pédagogie nécessaire. Que les organisateurs de manifestations pour Gaza veillent à déjouer toutes les provocations : il est bien de dénoncer celles-ci, il est mieux de ne pas y céder. Mais il importe d’abord et surtout que les dirigeants — nationaux et communautaires — cessent de jouer la carte du pire. Puissent l’exigence, même tardive, d’un cessez-le-feu immédiat, de l’arrêt du blocus de Gaza et l’autorisation des prochaines manifestations en être le signe.
